Establishment of Kudan Agricultural Development Company (KADCO)
In a major move to transform its agricultural economy, the Kudan Local Government has officially established the Kudan Agricultural Development Company (KADCO). This landmark initiative is designed to empower local farmers, boost productivity, and create a more resilient agricultural sector. The establishment of KADCO follows the recent passage of the Kudan Agro-Development Initiative (KADI) bye-law, which provides the legal framework to modernize farming practices across the local government area. KADCO will serve as the operational arm of the KADI policy, with a clear mandate to: • Provide Modern Farming Techniques: Equip local farmers with advanced tools, high-yield seedlings, and training on sustainable practices to increase crop production. • Strengthen Extension Services: Ensure farmers have direct access to expert advice and support through a revitalized and robust extension service network. • Enable Year-Round Production: Facilitate access to irrigation systems and other technologies to reduce dependence on seasonal rainfall and support consistent food production. • Improve Market Access: Connect local farmers directly to larger markets, ensuring they get better value for their produce and strengthening the local agricultural value chain. This coordinated effort between the KADI bye-law and KADCO marks a significant commitment from the Kudan Local Government to not only achieve food security but also to position agriculture as a primary driver for economic growth and job creation for its residents.
