New Bye-Laws Established to Support Agricultural Activities and Small Businesses in Kudan LGA
January 2025
Under the leadership of Chairman Hon. Dauda Ilya Abba, Kudan Local Government has launched two major initiatives—KADI and KEDEP—designed to revolutionize the local economy by empowering its farmers and small business owners.
Kudan Agro-Development Initiative (KADI):
To transform the agricultural sector, the administration passed the KADI bye-law and established the Kudan Agricultural Development Company (KADCO). This two-part strategy focuses on:
On-Ground Support: Strengthening extension services, providing irrigation through new boreholes, and enabling year-round production with infrastructure like greenhouses for a new grape-processing zone.
Commercial Growth: Through KADCO, the initiative will drive market linkages, value addition, and agro-processing to ensure farmers get better value for their produce.
Kudan Enterprise Development Programme (KEDEP): Boosting Small Businesses
Recognizing the vibrant nano and micro-enterprises that form the backbone of Kudan's economy, KEDEP was created to address key challenges like limited access to finance and markets. The program will provide targeted support to local entrepreneurs, with a special focus on empowering women and youth to create jobs and stimulate sustainable economic growth.
Together, KADI and KEDEP represent a comprehensive strategy to unlock Kudan's full economic potential by leveraging its agricultural strengths and entrepreneurial spirit.
